The EFCA describes the Challenge Conference as:
A catalytic environment challenging students to live on mission with God every day, everywhere, forever. Here are our values:
Jesus-centered: From start to finish, Challenge is about the glory of God in the face of Christ (2 Cor. 4:6). He’s the One we want students remembering and talking about when they go home.
Prayer-saturated: Transformation is a supernatural, God-dependent process. Therefore, prayer is not simply a tactic, it is our transformational strategy. When we pray we know God moves.
Relationally infused: We believe spiritual growth takes place best in the context of relationships. Therefore, we create intentional opportunities to strengthen the connections between students and leaders.
Missionally driven: We long to see a posture of “sentness” that moves students out toward others both locally and globally as disciples who make disciples. While at Challenge, we seek to join God in what He’s doing in the city by strengthening local partnerships that will last long after we’ve gone.
Synergistically architected: We work hard to create an intentionally integrated environment that bleeds the central message throughout each of the diverse components of Challenge in order to create a stronger learning environment.
Transportation and Housing:
We will be staying in a hotel within walking distance of the convention center. There are usually four students to a hotel room. Challenge staff will be on-site at the hotel at all times. Most meals are served at the conference center.
The total cost for Challenge 2018 will be roughly $950 (this covers the conference, transportation, hotels, meals, etc.). One main fundraising activity for this trip is rent-a-student. We have other fundraisers planned, but we ask everyone to send out support letters. We have made it easy and written an example support letter for you to use as a template or to print off and send to family and friends. We find that if you plan ahead, put a little effort in, and trust God, then raising the necessary funds isn’t as daunting as it first may seem. See the payment schedule below.
What we will be doing:
Challenge has nine main sessions that will challenge your walk with God. During this time we will hear from worship leaders and guest speakers. As a ministry we will meet after every main session for “family time.” This is where we talk through what we heard and how God used that session to challenge us. A list of speakers can be found on the EFC Challenge page.
There are also daily afternoon options to do ministry in Kansas City and working with ministries that work around the world. Other sporting and recreation options are available in the afternoon as well. The Challenge 2018 daily schedule is posted on the main EFC Challenge page.
- We will have monthly meetings for those attending Challenge:
